Discover the timeless art of wood-fired cooking in this interactive, hands-on workshop at Hagood Mill Historic Site. Brick Oven Baking 101 will introduce you to the essentials of cooking with a traditional brick-style earthen oven, guided by the skilled and charismatic Chef Eric.
We’ll begin with the foundations—learning how to build and maintain the perfect cooking fire, achieve and regulate the right temperatures, and prepare the oven for a variety of dishes. Then, we’ll dive into the delicious part:
🥐 Flaky Southern Biscuits – Start with a classic comfort food and learn techniques for perfect rise and texture.
🍲 One-Pot Jambalaya – Bold, rich flavors cooked to perfection in the radiant heat of the oven.
🍕 Wood-Fired Pizza – Stretch your own dough, build your pizza, and learn the tricks to launching it into the oven like a pro—crisp crusts, melty cheese, and all!
