Join us at Hagood Mill Historic Site for a hands-on workshop exploring the powerful traditions of Native American plant medicine. Led by herbalist and educator Donna Horn Putney, also known as Donna MotherHerb, this immersive class will introduce participants to the deep-rooted knowledge and practices surrounding native healing plants.
In this class, youβll learn:
πΏ A brief history of Native American healing traditions
πΏ The importance of traditional wisdom and native plants
πΏ How to identify local medicinal plants β including a foraging walk focused on common native species like violet
πΏ All about Bee Balm (Monarda didyma) β a sacred plant considered a panacea by many Native American cultures
You’ll also participate in a hands-on session where weβll:
π΅ Make an herbal tea (infusion) using Bee Balm
π§΄ Craft a healing salve to preserve this powerful native remedy
Please bring a packed lunch, comfortable walking shoes, and a water bottle. Be prepared to spend time both in the classroom and outdoors as we explore the natural world and its ancient wisdom.
